I'm reading a few books!

I had to put "The Final Solution to the Jewish Question" down. It was effecting my mental health. So I'm reading a small collection of humorous sci-fi stories. I'm also reading Judaism as a Civilization.

I got an email copy of someone's Masters thesis about Jewish representation in stories with space travel that I still haven't gotten around to reading. I can send it your way if you want.

I'm trying to read People Love Dead Jews but it's bumming me out, and my depression has been back lately. Might finish The Jewish Way to a Good Life by Rabbi Shira Stutman instead.

Is The Jewish Way to a Good Life good?

I'm enjoying it. Random thing I learned is that if a Torah scroll gets dropped, any witnesses have to fast during the daytime for 40 days. The book mainly talks about the values of community, education, tzedakah, and the importance of earning a livelihood.

I need to invest in some book darts BTW.

I read "have to fast" before the daytime part and I thought "have to fast for 40 days" is "is sentenced to death" without saying it :)

We're homeschooling and I get to read the next book that my son is going to read. The book isn't great. The Eagle of the Ninth, takes place about 140 CE in Brittania. There is A LOT of assumed knowledge in the first two chapters, about the Roman empire, about the different religions, about everything. I can see why many people disliked this book.
When I finish I can go back to reading the (Hebrew translation of the) minutes from the First Zionist Congress.

Does he like it at least?

He hasn't had to start it yet. My wife says there's a bunch of background that's supposed to be covered in history class either before or concurrently. Hopefully he doesn't hate it.

I'm not reading anything in particular at the moment (except boring things like bylaws and state statutes), but in what precious little free time I've had this weekend... it's been a lot of Rabbi Lord Sacks' wisdom.
